Much advancement has been made in surgical hair restoration in the last 10 years, leading to the development of the Follicular Unit Extraction technique. Follicular unit extraction (FUE) is the most popular and latest method of obtaining follicular units for hair transplantation. The other method is called strip FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation). In FUE harvesting, individual follicular units are extracted directly from the patient’s donor area, using a tiny punch. This differs from strip-harvesting, in which a strip of skin is removed from the patient donor area and then dissected into many individual follicular units.
